AUBURN, Ala. — Secretary of State Wes Allen gave remarks during the meeting of the Auburn University College Republicans and visited local businesses on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
During his remarks to the group of college republicans, Secretary Allen discussed the establishment of the Alabama Voter Integrity Database (AVID).
“AVID is a four-prong system that my team and I have developed to help us maintain a clean and accurate registered voter list. I appreciate the dedication of the staff at the Secretary of State’s office who have worked incredibly hard to make AVID a reality,” said Secretary Allen.
The four aspects of AVID include a cooperative inter-agency agreement with Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, National Change of Address Database, cooperative agreements from other states and analysis of the Social Security Death Index. Secretary Allen believes the new system will allow Alabama to have the cleanest and most accurate voter registration list in the country. AVID was designed in Alabama for Alabama to safeguard the integrity of Alabama elections and ensure every legal vote is counted. To learn more about AVID visit www.sos.alabama.gov/avid.
While in Opelika, Secretary Allen visited local businesses Smith T’s Building Supply, Mrs. Story’s Dairy Bar and Pawn Central.
“I appreciate the opportunity to be able to spend time with business leaders in Opelika. They get up each day, work hard to support their families and community, and make the American dream a reality,” said Secretary Allen.
