Illegal Alien Accused of Raping Prattville Teen

Grevi Geovani Rivera-Zavala, a 29 year old illegal alien from Honduras, stands accused in the forcible rape of a 16 year old girl in the women's restroom at Poblano's Mexican Restaurant in Prattville during the evening hours of Saturday, May 13th 2023. Having crossed the Texas border illegally in 2021 before making his way to Alabama, Rivera-Zavala was captured on security camera footage following the victim into the bathroom hallway after she left the table that she was dining at with her family. Several minutes later that same recording shows the victim exiting the hallway, visibly shaken, with her clothing disheveled and the suspect following shortly afterwards.

Testimony from the teenage female victim states that as she was leaving a bathroom stall, Rivera-Zavala forced her back into the stall before physically restraining and sexually assaulting her. She further informed investigators that she had attempted to fight off the rapist with kicks, screaming "no" repeatedly. Upon returning to her family's table, the victim recounted what had transpired in the restroom at which point the Prattville Police Department was called and officers arrived swiftly to arrest Rivera-Zavala as he was attempting to leave the restaurant after being positively identified as the assailant. According to the victim, she had noticed the suspect staring at her earlier while she was dining and when he followed her into the bathroom, Rivera-Zavala locked the door behind him leaving the two alone together.

Rivera-Zavala is currently being held without bond at the Autauga County Metro Jail, charged with the crime of Strong Arm Rape 1st degree. Unable to speak English, Rivera-Zavala revealed through a Spanish interpreter at his May 15th bond hearing that he has been staying in Mobile County and was in Prattville working as part of a construction crew. C.J. Robinson, District Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit of Alabama, has cited federal government sources as having indicated that the suspect was detained after crossing the border illegally at Eagle Pass, Texas in November of 2021 under a false name and identified by authorities as having a criminal record in his native Honduras before being fingerprinted and released into the United States.
