RESOLUTION OF THE EAST ALABAMA REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY
Calling for the East Alabama Republican Assembly to Officially Endorse Alabama House Bill 30 Post-Election Audit Act
ADOPTED MARCH 17, 2025
WHEREAS, one of the core tenets of the East Alabama Republican Assembly is to oppose any agenda that would knowingly or otherwise bring about the loss of our freedoms or destruction of our Republic and the erosion of traditional family values and principles;
WHEREAS, protecting the integrity of our elections in Alabama is a cornerstone in preserving the delicate constitutional foundation which ensures that our elected officials are true representatives of the constituents who vote them into office;
WHEREAS, HB30 will return power to the people at the local level by entrusting the Probate Court Judge of each county to “order a post-election audit after every county and statewide general election of all ballots in one precinct of a countywide or statewide race, selected by the canvassing board of each county.”
WHEREAS, Probate Court Judges would also be granted to authority to appoint “an inspector and the appropriate number of other poll workers required to complete the audit in the same manner as for any other election.”;
WHEREAS, a perfect solution would be returning to the original process of the hand counting of paper ballots by eliminating any electronic technology from being involved in our electoral process, it is important to pursue a practical approach in political matters where the perfect does not become the enemy of the good and this body has determined HB30 to be a good piece of legislation making it a step in the right direction towards ensuring more secure elections in Alabama.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY the East Alabama Republican Assembly that we officially endorse Alabama House Bill 30 Post-Election Audit Act
Respectfully:
John Rice, President
East Alabama Republican Assembly
